The Tuesday night raid in Gesima substation, which has been used for some time as temporary headquarters of H-Young Company, was raided with robbers said to have been in possession of crude weapons.

According to the company’s representative Mr Singh Mahindra, the company lost several culverts that were meant for the construction of Metamaywa-Kebirigo road besides emptying fuel tanks with an estimated 2000 litres of diesel believed to have been stolen.

“I received a distressing call from the watchman who was literally shaking. He said they had ordered him to lie down before committing the crime. They escaped with over 30 culverts and other construction materials like cement and fuel,” he said.

However, Keroka deputy OCS Victor Kirui said two daytime watchmen had been arrested for interrogation with the police extending the search to surrounding counties in aim to recover the materials.

“We have arrested two watchmen for interrogation since the night shift watchman had confessed that the two had been making unusual calls at around 10pm. We are extending our search to nearby counties and try to recover the materials,” he said.

According to the night shift guard Moses Nyaribo, the suspected robbers drove into the compound in saloon car and a dipper with their number estimated at 20.
