The National Construction Authority has suspended the construction of 100 houses in Kisumu until certain regulations are met.
Speaking at Lolwe estate in Kisumu on Thursday during the inspection, the senior investigation officer, Chrispus Ndinyo said they conducted an impromptu inspection within the lakeside city.
Ndinyo said the authority is assessing a number of issues on the construction site ranging from safety on site to the presence of registered contractor.
He announced that the 100 units under construction are missing a number of the regulations thus the suspension.
“We must crack the whip and we are going to do more inspection in Kisumu County to rein in on developers who do not comply with the regulations,” he said.
Ndinyo called on those wishing to put up houses to comply with the authority regulations.
He said the authority has given the developers whose construction has been suspended ten days to ensure they comply with the set regulations.
“We will take to court developers who fail to adhere by our rules,” he said.
