The grounds of the Limuru law courts are a buzz of activity with court proceedings going on as usual and lots of construction work going on as well with sand, cement bags and gravel found in heaps.
A new perimeter fence made from concrete and stone is being put up around the court buildings that include, magistrate chambers, court halls, toilets, registry, holding cell, waiting bay, executive officer office and accountant office.
The court had been in the news a while ago when accused persons jumped over the live fence that was previously surrounding the compound.
There is also another court hall under construction complete with its own 'accused holding area’. Consequently, the Limuru law courts will now have three court halls, in addition to the existing two.
The Limuru law courts are under the leadership of Senior Resident Magistrate G.H. Oduor.
Margaret Muthoni who was at the court said the new constructions would translate to another magistrate stationed at the law courts.
“With the new chambers coming up, we only hope in addition to the two magistrates operating here, another will be brought to hear and give judgment to cases. This will mean faster and better service delivery,” said Muthoni.
Limuru law courts receives many traffic offense cases noting it is the only court for both Limuru and Lari constituencies, and also the close proximity to Nairobi-Nakuru highway.
The other closer law court is Kikuyu, and others a bit far flung but still within Kiambu West are Githunguri law courts and Kiambu town law courts.
