While launching the 20Km-long road on Wednesday, Njomo said that the road will be made to meet international standards so that it can last long and benefit residents.

"We want Kangoya to change its image as a place ravaged by poverty and hopelessness because this road will open up opportunities for our youths and other locals. That is what we call development," said Njomo.

Speaking at the same time area MCA Anthony Ikonya, said that on the completion of the road, Kangoya market which has been lying idle for years will be reopened.

"We are going to reopen the market and allocate stalls to residents equitably. This will see people coming from far and using this road are able to come and buy from the market to the benefit of locals," he said.

The happy residents said they are ready to cooperate with the contractor and they are going to relocate when called upon to allow for expansion.
