Construction of the Kinoru Stadium in Meru is expected to take another three months to complete, as the contractor is yet to begin working on the VIP Lounge.
Four contractors have so far been deployed at the venue to speed up the work, with the construction of the terraces, the drainage system and the track still ongoing.
Work on the VIP lounge has been halted by the impending standoff between the Sports Kenya and the area Administration Police post which has been relocated for the work to go on.
Once complete, the Meru County government says they will set up a stadia management board, to run the stadium.
The stadium is among the four that was selected to host the CHAN 2018, would be open to all sports discipline in three months’ time.
The stadia was at the centre of a tag of war between the county and national government, with the then governor peter Munya telling the national government to keep off matters since the stadia belonged to the county.
Once done, the stadium will be used mainly for the Kenya Premier League, which will be a boost for the area development as well as developing sports at grassroots level.
