Construction of a multi-billion industrial park in Uasin Gishu County is set commence in March.
According to Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC) team leader Architect Erastus Obonyo, the facility will occupy 135 acres in Langas Estate, only 3 kilometres from Eldoret Town.
"All is set for the project to be commissioned come March. The project is funded by the Central Bank and ICDC at a cost Sh3.8 billion," he said during a press briefing in Eldoret after holding a stakeholders meeting on Thursday.
He added, "The project once complete will create 40,000 indirect and 15,000 direct job opportunities to jobless youths and intern improve economy. It will mainly focus on agro-processing, agro machinery, support services and textile production."
He reiterated that the industrial park is expected to provide physical and business development services facilities to support the local and foreign enterprises.
"We want to urge Langas residents of to support the project fully since they will benefit directly on indirectly to improve their livelihoods," noted Obonyo
