Kisii County Petroleum Institute of East Africa (PIEA) representative Samuel Nyasimi has warned Kisii residents of fake gases in the market.
Nyasimi said that the illegally filled gas cylinders are mostly underweight and lack cylinder validation and gas stench, a component vital in that it enables one to identify a leak.
“We know that most cylinders in the market are fake and soon we are going to inspect all the available ones in all retailers. Fake cylinders put the lives of consumers in danger since they can burst and cause fire and other accidents,” said Nyasimi.
He said the consumers should go for branded LPG cylinders that are stocked in majority of supermarkets and retail outlets to avoid the fake gas cylinders. This comes after a family last week escaped death when the gas they were using in their home exploded and burnt down the house in Mwembe, Kisii County.
