The contest for the Bahati parliamentary seat is beginning to shape up with several aspirants declaring interest, thereby igniting fierce debates on social media.

Those seeking to take on the incumbent Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri include; John Macharia, Crispus Wathimba and John Thou. 

Even though the campaign period has not officially been announced, all the candidates have utilised the power of social media to the maximum, with the incumbent relying on his communications director Joe Ngugi to fight it out for him.

In some instances, the interactions on Facebook are fiery, with some of the debates being reduced into sessions of accusations and counter accusations.

Bahati politics are usually hot and acrimonious but this time round the aspirants look focused and issue based. 

Ngunjiri faces young aspirants who are wooing the youth through the platform Bahati Ni Kwetu on Facebook, a page that has a decent following among the youth in Bahati. 

Team John Macharia has been especially active, avoiding much drama but trying to win support. 

Team Crispus has been active too but always running into trouble from Joe Ngugi in what is shaping out to be a personal attack for whatever reasons. 

 The next few months will bring out the real contestants. What the people of Bahati want out of this contest is the most deserving candidate.
