[Photo|Busia County Government]Malaba boda boda operators have railed at the Kenyan contracted to tarmac the Busia-Malaba Road by the national government saying they are sleeping on the job.The concern was raised as the Chinese contractor who was awarded the contract to tarmac the Malaba-Lwakhakha.John Chemo said the Chinese contractor working on the road is doing a commendable job with over 15km of the road between Malaba and Angurai ready for tarmacking."The Chinese contractor has brought modern machines which has cleared rocks in some sections which used to pose great challenge to motorists and cyclists plying the route," he said on Sunday.Chemo who also lauded Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong for tarmacking roads within Busia and Malaba towns blamed poor workmanship on Busia-Malaba road on old machines.Emmanuel Mankocha said although the Chinese had done a good job, he blamed them over failure to install a lane for motorcycles use, thus leaving them to compete with motor vehicles.Dedan Opua said the road had not been done to standard. Although he failed to disclose the anomalies, he told the contractor to finish it properly.
