Contractors holding constituency funded projects in Nyaribari Chache have been called upon to ensure they complete them on the scheduled time or risk being blacklisted for failing to complete works on schedule.
Speaking when he visited the construction of a Modern School Science Laboratory for Nyabiosi Secondary School in Birongo ward on Monday, area project manager Justus Tinega said that 80 percent of the projects in the area are half complete and he fears if they will be complete within the time frame set for the same.
Tinega said the government would not hesitate to terminate contracts for ‘contractors who delay completion of projects for whatever reason’.
He warned that substandard works would not be tolerated, and ‘indiscipline and sluggish contractors would be blacklisted’.
“As a government, we are determined to deliver all projects in this financial year and we are not going to entertain under-performing contractors,” he warned.
He went on: “we give the contractors’ tax payer’s money to carry out projects but some seem not to work according to our expectation which is not acceptable at all”.
The official added that they will not give any contractor more jobs without getting to know their past working records.
