Controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has added his voice to the death Meru University student leader Evans Njoroge who was allegedly shot to death by a police officer on Tuesday during a demonstration in the institution.
According to Nyakundi, the death of Njoroge could have been avoided had the Education CS Amina Mohamed headed to his earlier warnings.
"FYI, The Meru University crisis has been on for more than One month. There is a day I made some tweets urging @AMB_A_Mohammed to intervene and sort the crisis but she was busy applying make-up," reads Nyakundi's tweet.
No action has been taken against the police until now but Meru County Governor Kiraitu Murungi says police should have used rubber and not live bullets on Meru University students.
Meru MPs are also expected to hold a press conference over the shooting of Njoroge by the police at 10 am on Wednesday.
City lawyer Nelson Havi has also promised to represent Njoroge's family in court on a pro bono to ensure they get justice.
"I will, if permitted by the family of murdered Meru University Student Leader Evans Njoroge, take up the case against the policeman and State (murder and wrongful death respectively) pro bono. Police impunity must end," said Havi.
