Even as Mombasa residents condemn his detention, controversial blogger Robert Alai has supported the harassment of Miguna Miguna by the police and immigration officials at JKIA.
Miguna was on Monday evening bundled into an Emirates Flight EK722 to Dubai, back to Canada.A bunch of security officers bungled the self-proclaimed NRM general into the plane, tearing his suit as he screamed, protesting and refusing to take a seat.
Miguna protested the deportation while on the plane, saying immigration officials illegally bundled him to the plane and declined to be re-deported.
Protests erupted in Mombasa on Tuesday over the matter, but according to Alai, Miguna declined to recognise President Uhuru Kenyatta, worsening the situation.
"The passport you use, is clearly written that "in the name of the President of the Republic of Kenya, .....allow the bearer to pass freely without let or hindrance." Miguna's problem is that he doesn't recognise the President. So President Uhuru withdrew his travel document," said Alai.
"Now I support President Uhuru and Immigration on this. Miguna should either recognise the President or go back to Canada. Can't have both," he added on Tuesday, also differing with Governor Ali Hassan Joho's cousin, Said Abdalla Saedo.
Saedo condemned the harassment, saying government ought to have obeyed court orders and allowed Miguna into the country.
Earlier, while at JKIA, Miguna had said the government was planning to re-deport him and refused to leave lounge.
"They want to take me to Dubai.... I am not going, they say they want to remove me by force but they would have to kill me first. I am a Kenyan by birth...." he said.
His supporters in Mombasa protested the harassment, accusing the government of unlawfully harassing Miguna.
