A Malindi pastor who was arrested for allegedly radicalizing pupils through extreme religious teachings has been released alongside his wife on a cash bail of Sh100, 000 each.In his ruling, Justice Julie Oseko directed the cleric, Paul Makenzi and his wife Joyce Mwikambithe to be released on a cash bail of Sh100, 000 or surety bond of Sh500,000 each.Justice Oseke further directed the duo to report to the Malindi OCS on a weekly basis failure to which their bail will be cancelled. The prosecution, led by Alice Mathangani objected the ruling arguing that the two might interfere with investigations.The couple is accused of radicalising 93 children aged between four and 13 years at the Good News International Ministries Church in Furunzi area. The two are said to have unlawfully taught the children intensive ideological beliefs to promote social change.The children were rescued and taken to different remand and children homes in the region for protection and counselling.The case is scheduled to be heard on November 8.
