Members of the controversial Utheri wa Lari have now called upon the government to administer justice to their woes and grant them security.
Speaking on Sunday during a members’ meeting which was attended by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, the members called for the end of the case involving their parcel of land in Maai Mahiu, Naivasha constituency.
Stephen Muiru, the chairman of the group, appealed for security to all members following the brutal killing of some members by unknown people late last year.
“We call upon the relevant authorities to provide security to all members since there are some people who have been issuing threats to us. We own this land legally but some people are after it,” he said.
“We have even been turned away and warned never to step on this particular piece of land while as we have every document to justify legality of ownership.”
He also requested the parliamentary committee on forestry to intervene and provide a lasting solution to their controversial land ownership cases that have rocked the group for decades.
Senator Kimani Wamatangi assured members that justice will be served forthwith and the land in question will be given to them.
“We can see that this group acquired this land in 1974. It is now 41 years. Synonymous to the Israelite’s journey, your journey to justice has come to an end. No member should be denied access of the land they legally own. We shall put to an end this quest and you will get back your land,” Wamatangi said.
