An Administration Police officer doubling as a preacher has stirred social media with a message that men desist from acting ‘cowardly’ and marry many women.
The unidentified cop in a video says it’s better for men to marry two or three or four wives and stay with them at home than cheat in a marriage.
“God prohibits alcoholism, God prohibits cheating in marriage. He prohibits these two acts,” the officer preaching to his colleagues is heard saying in the video.
“As officers, we know that abuse of alcohol is bad, but we have immersed ourselves in beer. God says don’t fornicate; if you want a woman marry. God says marry two women, three or even four. But if you are a coward, marry one.”
In Kenya, Christian and Hindu marriages are monogamous while Islamic and customary ones are polygamous according to the Marriage Act 2014.
In monogamous Hindu and Christian marriages, a man can marry another woman or more women provided that the first woman consents.
