There was drama in Kisii town after two groups of contractors rose against each other,
The wrangle emerged due to one group of contractors having been paid by the county government whereas, another was not paid.
The first group that was led by their chairman, Kennedy Mariera had peaceful demonstrations accusing Governor James Ongwae for not having paid them for their services since 2013 and they were now demanding to be paid.
“Today we have peaceful demonstrations demanding the county government pays us our money since 2013 so that we can also enjoy as they are enjoy in the offices,’’ said Mariera.
In addition, they accused the county Finance Ministry led by Kodeck Omwancha, of having refused to listen to their grievances.
“We have been struggling to talk with the Ministry of Finance but our efforts have been null and void. We want is our money since we offered the services so we need the return of the services and this will only be done by paying us,” said Mariera.
The other group led by Japheth Momanyi said they had already tabled matters out with the county government and were awaiting payment.
“As the contractors association we have already agreed with the county government oh how we will be paid, those making noise here, spoiling the name of the governor and the image of the county we don’t know them,” said Momanyi.
