Political scientist Prof Frank Matanga and Analyst Martin Oloo have challenged Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford-Kenya's Moses Wetangula to convince the Luhya community why they should be in Nasa government and not Jubilee.
According to the two, the ‘Mulembe’ nation has no option other than to stay in Nasa since their need would be addressed if the opposition forms the next government.
They noted that Mudavadi and Wetangula would play a key role in the Raila-Kalonzo led administration.
“Mudavadi, as the Nasa founder, already played a key role by endorsing the alliance lineup and he has a lot more to do to steady the coalition, because he seems composed,” Matanga said.
“What Mudavadi and Wetang’ula need to do now is to mount serious campaigns to explain to residents why they are better in Nasa than Jubilee,” he added.
Oloo said the Western community has no space in president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government since they are planning to rule until 2032.
“Luhyas are better in a Nasa government, where they are shareholders, than in Jubilee, where the formation might be in place until 2032 and they continue begging. How do you build a house and run away? To where?” he asked.
The National Super Alliance on Thursday announced former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as its flag bearer with Kalonzo Musyoka as his running mate.
Mudavadi will be given the position of Premier Cabinet Secretary with Moses Wetangula and Isaac Rutto deputising him.
