Machakos Cooperative Societies were on Friday told to focus on development and stop associating with politicians.
Speaking at Kayatta Cooperative Society during an annual general meeting in Kangundo, Joseph Maina the group's patron said politics would derail the investments of the cooperatives.
"When we get into dirty abusive politics then we have no time to set goals that get us to improving our livelihoods, "said Maina.
The meeting held at Kin'goti Farmers Cooperative Society grounds was also attended by Paul Musau the Chairman of Kayatta Farmers Society and Wellington Ndawa the Chief of Matungulu location.
Musau called on members to be supportive of their officials as a way of paving a way for good market for their products.
Ndawa called on the farmers and owners of land to be willing to sell land even to new developers who are new to the area as they bring new ideas.
"We should avoid tribalism as when we decline to sell to buyers our land, that is on sale on basis of tribalism it is not in line with the law and does not bring any improvements to our county.
