The defection of Charles Mochama, a leading gubernatorial aspirant from Cord to JAP has caused jitters among the opposition supporters with some subjecting him to online onslaught.
Mochama was reportedly the favorite to clinch the ODM ticket in 2017 before his unprecedented shift to Jubilee Alliance Party.
Led by Nyamira ODM Youth League leader on Nyamira Facebook page, the supporters accused Mochama of being ‘gullible’ and declared him unfit for command.
“It’s sad that someone who has been working well with us can ditch us the last minute without even giving a notice. He is very insincere and gullible and such kind of people is unfit for leadership,” said Marube.
“Having political stand defines the integrity of a leader. No one has pushed him out of ODM and he has decided to dine with enemies. I sometimes wonder whether he took all his supporters to JAP. I won’t want to see him being taught a political lesson,” he added.
The same sentiment was aired by ODM activist John Mokweri who accused, Mochama of accepting ‘handouts’ to bring confusion to Cord supporters.
“Mochama is one of the most insincere politicians I have seen and I am really disappointed that he can accept handouts to bring confusion to our coalition. However, I am sure this is a small matter that will be handled in time,” he said.
A source who spoke to the reporter on condition of anonymity said ODM National Treasurer Timothy Bosire was disappointed with the move even as Bosire kept mum on the matter when interviewed.
“He (Bosire) is very disturbed with the matter. He wasn’t informed by Mochama and I can assure you that he isn’t happy at all,” said the source.
Mochama on Friday blamed latest entry of Nyamira branch ODM chair James Gesami to the gubernatorial race as the reason behind his decision.
