Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has ruled out the possibility of Cord affiliate parties dissolving to form a new political outfit ahead of the 2017 polls.

According to the Senator who is now a member of Ford Kenya, as party officials, they are only interested in making the parties within the coalition stronger rather than forming a new party.

"Cord will not use Jubilee's style as suggested by some leaders," he said.

He however, said the leaders from the three parties will find a mechanism to nominate candidates for various positions ahead of the poll.

The outspoken Senator said the Constitution states that the country is a multi-party democracy and that dissolving parties in the pretext of bringing unity is misleading.

"Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Masinde Muliro, Martin Shikuku, Kenneth Matiba and others played a very crucial role in making Kenya a multi-party democracy. We cannot water down their efforts," he added.

This comes barely two weeks after parties affiliated to Jubilee dissolved to form the Jubilee Party which President Kenyatta is going to use for defending his seat in 2017.
