Opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy plans to conduct a series of rallies starting next week in Rift Valley region.
The rallies are meant to demystify myths about the International Criminal Court case against Deputy President William Ruto and former radio journalist Joshua Arap Sang.
Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo said the rallies are meant to tell the truth to the Kalenjin community in regard to how the cases ended up in The Hague based court.
Midiwo said lies have been peddled for close to eight years that the ODM party was behind the incarnation of the two Kenyans facing charges at the ICC.
“As ODM, we have been accused by the community that we took Ruto to Hague and abandoned him there. It is time we tell them the truth,” he said.
The ODM MP said the Kalenjin community must now know the truth that those who fixed the DP and Sang are part and parcel of the Jubilee administration.
Addressing a press conference in Kisumu on Friday, Midiwo said the issue has had bad blood between the community and the ODM party that they felt betrayed their sons.
He said the ODM party still believes that Ruto should not be jailed for a case that was pre-arranged and witnesses procured.
“ODM party rooted for a local tribunal, we did object for the cases to go to The Hague, up to now we are not happy that Ruto was taken to the Hague,” he said.
Midiwo said the country should move in one direction and not to be bogged down with fixing issues.
He said the Cord secretariat will release a calender for the rallies before Sunday.
