Cord also wants Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and Criminal Investigation Director (CID) director Ndegwa Muhoro to resign.

The leaders  who spoke in Machakos on Sunday said that police had failed to guarantee security of Kenyans following the killing of the lawyer.

“We are demanding for a public inquiry to be conducted on the killing of lawyer Willy Kimani and the tow others,” said Odinga.

Raila accused the government of taking security of Kenyans for granted. He alleged that police are involved in the killing of lawyer Kimani.

Odinga said that the government was silent when some rogue officers were eliminating innocent lives.

“We are not going to keep silent, the same people that killed lawyer Kimani are the same ones who executed the late businessman Jacob Juma, alleged Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula.

Wetangula said that the era of extrajudicial killing is back and that the government must explain to Kenyans why innocent people are being eliminated.

He said that the government must get rid of rogue police officers.

“It is unfortunate that a promising lawyer and a human rights defender would be killed just like that,” said Kalonzo Musyoka.

Musyoka said that Kenyans had lost faith in the country’s security mechanisms.

The Cord leaders called for reforms in the police force saying that rogue officers still exist.

“Reforms in the police force must be fast-tracked to get rid of rogue officers,” said the Cord leaders.

The killing of lawyer Willy Kimani, his client and a driver has bee condemned locally and internationally.

Human right activists have blamed the government for tolerating extra-judicial killings.

The bodies of the lawyer, his client and the driver who went missing two weeks ago were discovered on Friday dumped in Ol donyo Sabuk River.

A section of lawyers under the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) umbrella have condemned the killing and vowed to boycott court proceedings starting today until when those behind the killing of the lawyer and his client are arrested and charged in court.
