The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has called off countrywide protests against the IEBC.
Cord said the opposition coalition wanted to give dialogue a priority.
The decision to call of Monday demonstrations was arrived at after a meeting between the opposition and church leaders.
Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama in a statement said the protests will however, resume on Thursday if an agreement would not have been arrived at by Wednesday 9pm.
He said government should be given time to engage the opposition over the matter.
On Wednesday Cord announced that the countrywide protests will be held on Mondays and Thursday to pressurize government disband the IEBC.
The development came hours after Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet cleared Cord's earlier request to hold anti-IEBC demonstration on Monday and Thursday.
Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula are leading countrywide demonstrations aimed at pushing IEBC commissioners resign.
Government on the other hand insists IEBC can only be disbanded through Parliament.
President Uhuru Kenyatta says legally, he has no powers to disband the polls body.
