The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has called off protests planned for Thursday to push for the removal of IEBC commissioners.
The coalition says it wants to allow time for the conclusion of initial talks with the Jubilee government on how to reform the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
According to Siaya Senator James Orengo “all sides had shown their determination to find a friendly solution to the IEBC dead end.
Orengo stating that “we are yet to conclude discussions on a few but equally important issues."
This is the second time Cord has decided to put off the demonstrations to give dialogue a chance.
The Raila Odinga led coalition argues that the current polls body, led by Issack Hassan, cannot manage the 2017 general election because it lacks credibility and has lost the trust of Kenyans.
Odinga added that "lately, the appointment has been more constructive and straightforward, with the diplomatic community coming out actively."
He added his group had given the Jubilee coalition time to respond to their demands.
