Kiogoro MCA Samuel Apoko believes Cord leader Raila Odinga cannot be declared a winner in presidential elections if 2017 polls will be supervised by the current Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission.
Politicians allied to Cord have been pushing for the disbandment of the electoral commission accusing it of colluding with Jubilee government in making major decisions.
Apoko told reporters in his Kisii offices that Raila Odinga must do ‘something’ extra if he remains serious to dislodge President Uhuru Kenyatta from office in 2017.
“My honest opinion is that Jakom (Raila Odinga) cannot be announced a winner even if he wins by a landslide in 2017," said Apoko.
"He must do something extra about the current commission to ensure it bows out of office,” he added.
He accused IEBC of subjecting opposition to unwarranted humiliations and warned of ‘serious repercussions’ if Kenya goes to polls under the supervision of the commission.
“The commission is visibly compromised and they are out to humiliate the opposition. That alone indicates that 2017 elections will never be free and fair," he said.
"They are working with Jubilee and the bitter truth remains that IEBC will doctor the results in favor of Jubilee,” Apoko added.
“There will be serious repercussions if Kenya goes to the polls under this commission. It's ready to rig the elections and declining a genuine referendum quest is just but the beginning,” he said.
He urged Odinga to use his ‘extra energy’ and ensure elections are not supervised by the Isaac Hassan led-commission.
“I wish to advise him to use his extra energy and ensure this commission is disbanded," said Apoko.
"It has shown intentions that it will always favor the government I don’t seat in ODM top decision-making organs but they know using parliament cannot work because Jubilee has the majority and they will protect their accomplices in crime,” he said.
