The Cord coalition has expressed satisfaction following Africa Union Commission (AUC) chairperson election, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Cord celebrated after Kenya's Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohammed lost to Chad's Moussa Faki Mahamat.
He was elected the chairperson after seven rounds of voting, garnering 38 votes, against Amina's 28.
According to Cord, Amina's defeat was an indication on how the Jubilee administration would fail in the August 8, general election.
"Jubilee loses round one of their 2017 rigging scheme. Manual voting and bribery did not work at the AU. #AminaDDay is lesson 1 of losing in August,'' said Cord, on Twitter.
The Coalition added: "Africa renaissance! Thanks African leaders for rejecting Jubilee's international face of corruption and failure. Congrats Chad on #AminaDDay!''
Amina, 55, had received massive support from her Kenyan diplomats who had mobilised several countries to vote her in, with Kenya spending close to Sh350 million to ensure her victory.
The government has since congratulated her, saying she fought bravely.
