The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has declined to form a Joint Parliamentary Committee to lead talks on the IEBC stalemate.
This comes hours after the Jubilee side named its team that would spearhead the talks.
Cord principal Raila Odinga welcomed President Uhuru Kenyatta's proposal but however said it did not cater for the opposition’s demand for an out-of-Parliament dialogue process.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday held consultative talks with the Speakers of both the National Assembly and Senate, as well as religious leaders before agreeing to form the joint committee.
He asked the opposition Cord to accept the move to address the IEBC impasse.
Jubilee has nominated Senators Kiaritu Murungi (Meru), Kipchumba Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet), Beatrice Elachi (nominated), Fatuma Dullo (nominated), MPs Cecile Mbarire (Runyenjes), Naomi Shaaban (Taveta), Moses Kuria (Gatundi South), Jimmy Angweyi (Kitutu Chache North) for the talks.
Uhuru's personal assistant Jomo Gecaga, Mumias MP Ben Washiali, Eng Mohammed Mahmoud and Narok Woman Representative Soipan Tuyak are also part of the team.
Cord has been holding demonstrations across the country in a bid to remove IEBC commissioners from office.
It has accused the commissioners of planning to rig the 2017 polls in favour of Jubilee.
The protests have so far claimed four lives.
