A Cord governor from Ukambani has claimed that there is a plan to lock him out of the next general election.
Kitui's Julius Malombe has said that some Wiper Democratic Movement officials are hatching a plan to ensure he loses out during the party nominations.
Speaking on Saturday in Kitui, Malombe said that he was confident he will unmatch those behind the plan and eventually be In the ballot in 2017.
He said that he is the people's favourite candidate due to his development record in the county.
"I will certainly be on the ballot next year. I am prepared to do whatever it takes to remain in the race because I have vowed to continue serving my people and I intend to keep that promise," said Malombe.
The governor faces stiff competition from his party leader David Musila who has declared an interest in unseating him during the next general election.
Former lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has also declared her interest to become the first female governor by unseating Malombe in 2017.
