Orange Democratic Movement Chairman John Mbadi has been challenged to withdraw remarks he allegedly made while in Malaba on Thursday during opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ongoing tour in the Western region.
The Suba MP had allegedly insisted that the opposition had no intention to use judicial mechanisms in case the 2017 elections would require a judicial intervention in the Supreme Court.
Mr Richard Tong’i of Nyaribari Chache on Friday during an exclusive interview on Omogusii unity which he has been championing took the ODM chairman head on and challenged him to withdraw the remarks since they were ‘belittling’ the judiciary.
“I also believe that ODM stands for democracy just like they purport but that is meaningless when a leader of such position insists that they cannot follow legal mechanisms in case of an electoral dispute,” he said.
“He must apologise for the remarks because they ridicule the judicial system and barely means there is no need to use taxpayers’ money to pay people working in the judiciary,” he added.
He also demanded that the MP be compelled to reveal the mechanism they will use in handling 2017 polls in case the government beats the opposition.
“The remarks mean that opposition has a hidden agenda that must be investigated. We want him to come boldly and inform us on the alternative they will use if not the judicial system should they lose,” he said.
