Ruto said some of the Cord leaders were in government previously and failed to come up with tangible development projects for the region.

He urged the Luhyia community to abandon the opposition and support the government.

“The opposition has nothing new to offer to Kenyans. It is only the government that can solve the problems facing this country,” said Ruto.

The Deputy President said the government has revived Mumias and Nzoia sugar factories as a measure to solving problems facing sugarcane farmers in the region.

The Deputy President said all Jubilee affiliate parties' process of folding up to form Jubilee Party was at an advanced stage and asked leaders from the region to discard ethnic based politics, which derail development.

“We are forming a strong political party with a national outlook that aims at bringing Kenyans together. I ask you to join us on this road come the next election,” he said.
