Opposition coalition CORD has accused Jubilee of trying to influence the recruitment of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for the position of chairperson.
In a statement on Monday by the coalition's CEO Norman Magaya, Cord said they have reliable information that Jubilee is fronting Lucas Leperes Naikuni for the commission's top position, who they accused of being allied to the ruling coalition.
“We reiterate that we will not allow jubilee to subvert the will of the people of Kenya by influencing recruitment of a Jubilee friendly candidate as the IEBC chair,” Magaya said.
Magaya, who is also an advocate of the High Court, further warned Jubilee of consequences in the event the coalition attempts to interfere with the recruitment process.
“It is not lost on us that Jubilee regime has demonstrated insatiable affinity to subversion of processes and perfected the art of short cuts in pursuance of power. We however wish to send a stern warning to Jubilee," he warned.
