Impeachment motion against Nairobi governor Evans Kidero suffered a blow on Tuesday 11th after all Cord MCAs and 20 Jubilee MCAs boycotted the motion
The County Assembly Speaker Alex Magelo adjourned the sitting due to lack of enough MCAs to debate on the motion.
According to the Star, Cord MCAs convened at Boulevard hotel while some of Jubilee MCAs who attended the motion claimed Kidero "paid" the ward representatives to boycott the sitting and disturb the business of the house.
"The assembly leadership had decided to proceed with the impeachment debate despite a court order restraining the same," Kahawa West MCA Ngaruiya Chege said.
"This is a constitutional process that the court cannot interfere with. The governor has realised that and he is now buying everybody to boycott the session. Kidero promised to pay the MCAs money equivalent to their 3-day allowances on top of the Sh3 900 they are paid per sitting," added Ngaruiya.
This comes after the High Court on Monday ordered that the impeachment motion against Kidero should stop until an application by the governor is heard and determined.
Out of the 127 MCAs in Nairobi county 43 of them must be available for any assembly business to proceed while 87 are required to support the motion to impeach Kidero.
