National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has said the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy's (Cord) ultimate flag bearer will be Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a political meeting in Mombasa on Friday, Duale said all the ranting and the discord playing out in the coalition was just a strategy to make it look like there was democracy.
"We have studied their delay tactics but we want to categorically state that we as the Jubilee party are not moved by their in-party struggles. We are ready for whoever will be picked though we know their ultimate candidate will be Raila Odinga," said Duale.
The Garrisa Township MP said Cord is disorganised and lacks a winning strategy, adding that was the reason why they keep claiming Jubilee is planning to rig the elections.
Cord leaders have however dismissed the allegation saying the three coalition principals stand a chance, as the flag bearer will be picked through consensus.
Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar said it was not automatic for Raila to fly the coalition's flag because co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula stand an equal chance of being the fifth President of Kenya.
"ODM has endorsed Raila, we as Wiper have endorsed Kalonzo and Ford Kenya has endorsed Wetangula. Those saying that Raila's bid is automatic are just peddlers of lies and its unfortunate that this is coming from Jubilee," said Omar.
The senator asked Jubilee leaders to focus on their party instead of meddling in Cord affairs.
“Instead of Jubilee popularising their manifesto they are busy focusing on an internal democratic process in Cord. They should man up and get prepared to face one of our principals,” said Omar.
