Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers on Monday summoned Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) lawyer Anthony Oluoch, over an alleged plot to disrupt the 2017 general election.
The officers grilled Mr Oluoch for over an hour at the Pangani Divisional Criminal Investigation Office (DCIO).
Olouch is accused of funding a militia group in Mathare to interrupt next year's polls.
He denied the allegations saying, "The summons that have been issued today are part of an alleged systematic plot to cause harm to myself and some of my supporters.
The lawyer further said his life was in danger, citing a failed attempt on his life before he was summoned, adding that he was in the process of gathering evidence before recording a statement with the police over the same.
"When the attempt did not succeed, there was a decision to associate me with an alleged militia and arming of youth. There were also plans afoot to carry out a raid on my property and vehicles to perhaps plant weapons and make good this threat," he said, as quoted by The Standard.
Siaya Senator James Orengo who had accompanied Oluoch to the station, faulted the police for summoning his counterpart based on mere allegations that lacked sufficient evidence.
"The fact that the entire leadership of the police force in this division was present goes to show there was political interference with the case," said Orengo.
