Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday met a group of professionals from the Somali community in a bid to bolster his support ahead of the 2017 general election.
Mr Odinga met the delegation at his Capitol Hill office as his main political challenger in next year's election, President Uhuru Kenyatta, was in Nyamira convincing the electorate to support him during the polls.
"This morning, I hosted a delegation of young professionals from Wajir, Garissa and Mandera counties assisted by ODM national Organizaing Secretary, Hon Abdikadir Aden (MP, Balambala) at my office in Capitol Hill," Raila said on his official Facebook account on Wednesday.
"The young men and women presented their agenda of inclusion in the governance and political direction of their counties, recognition as equal shareholders of the Kenyan nation, actualisation of the Equalisation Fund and the reform of education in the former North Eastern Province. This meeting is the first of many ahead of a national youth conference to discuss the future of the frontier counties to be held later in the year."
Raila has of late had a busy diary.
He met the professional hours before flying to Kajiado where he attended the burial of Cord MCA Peter Kurrinyo (Mosiro Ward).
On Monday, he led a group of Cord supporters to the IEBC head office at Anniversary Towers in a demonstration that aimed at forcing IEBC officials to resign.
Raila has maintained the electoral body is biased and cannot be trusted in overseeing the 2017 elections.
On April 24, he was again in Kajiado where he was hosted by Governor David Nkedianye and Kajiado North MP Elijah Memusi during a Maa traditional initiation ceremony for selected youth.
Also present at the event were Governors Isaac Rutto (Bomet), Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), Julius Malombe (Kitui) and John Mruttu (Taita Taveta).
It was on the same day (April 24) that he attended a church service in Nairobi together with Amani coalition leader Musalia Mudavadi and a host of MPs.
Raila has also held talks with elders from Taita Taveta County and presided over the closure of the Third Annual Devolution Conference in Meru.
