Cord leaders on Monday continued to drum up their supporters to register as voters, as the IEBC officially opened the exercise.
Led by Cord co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula, the leaders traversed parts of Nairobi to oversee the exercise, as well as meet their supporters in various areas.
They also want the IEBC to release the numbers of daily registrations, further pointing out that 2017 is key to victory, and the only way is for their supporters to register.
To underscore the importance of the voter registration exercise, Raila attended the launch of the voter drive at the KICC on Monday, where there was a question and answer session between the politicians and the IEBC
After the launch, Raila visited about seven polling stations in the county to monitor the registration, and called on his supporters to register.
“This time, we must send Jubilee packing, that’s why we want all our supporters to register, women, the elderly, to register as voters,” said Odinga.
The other coalition partners Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula also traversed parts of Nairobi asking locals to register, saying it’s the only way to ascend to statehouse.
“We don’t want chaos with machetes and other weapons, the only weapon to clear political injustice, the only weapon is a voters’ card,” said Musyoka.
The leaders promised to traverse more areas of the country to sensitize locals to register as voters, and to also turn out to vote in the August polls.
