He called upon the three co-principals to listen to the voice of the people of Western and not fight the 'anointed' one.

He further callled upon Luhya leaders including Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, his Kakamega counterpart Boni Khalwale and Water CS Eugene Wamalwa among others leaders from Western Kenya to rally voters behind Mudavadi, as he seeks to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in 2017.

His sentiments were backed by ANC Party chairman Kelvin Lunani, who said that Mudavadi is the right candidate the opposition can present to lock horns with President Kenyatta during the upcoming polls.

Speaking to The Star, Lunani said that Mudavadi will work with other leaders from the Western region to restore the lost unity in the Luhya community.

"Besides facing other bigwigs for the nomination of presidential candidate, Mudavadi will work closely with every leader in Western to forge unity that is crucial to stem out division," said Lunani.

The appointment of Mudavadi as the Luhya spokesperson has attracted mixed reactions from different groups.
