The Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (Cord) through senior counsel James Orengo has filled a suit in court to stop the Bill proposing changes on the electoral laws.
In the suit which was filled at the High court of Kenya on Wednesday, Cord said that the amendments on the Elections Laws (Amendment) Act of 2016 seeking to allow manual voting is a catalyst for chaos and rigging in the forthcoming elections.
"The peace, security and safety of Citizens and their property is likely to be compromised if the debate and legislation affecting the electoral law is undertaken without the involvement of all stakeholders including all the political parties," said Orengo.
The coalition wants the High Court to quash the recent proceedings at the National assembly that resulted to the passing of the disputed amendments.
They also want the High Court to facilitate an order stopping the president from assenting the Bill in case the Senate also passes the amendments.
