Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa accused his Tongareni counterpart Eseli Simiyu of hatching a plan together with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to give direct party nominations to candidates.

"Why are you forcing the party leader to give a direct nomination to Governor Patrick Khaemba who has been dining and wining with Jubilee," the MP lashed out.

According to a waitress at the club, the heated debate turned into a physical fight after Mr Wamalwa threw a blow at Eseli, before he also responded.

It took the intervention of patrons and other individuals at the club to separate the two legislators.

When contacted for a comment on the matter, Wamalwa accepted that they differed with Eseli and termed him as a liability to the party.

"It is true we differed and exchanged words at the club. I never expected my colleague to protect people accused of perpetuating corruption," Wamalwa affirmed.

Efforts by party leader Wetangula to reconcile the two lawmakers have not borne fruit.
