Mondays now seem to be a dreaded day for all Kenyans as it is bound to be filled with siren noises, running around, being teargassed might and killings as well in most parts of the country as Cord continues with its anti-IEBC riots.

Cord has said that they will not give up on their anti-IEBC riots until IEBC officials are out of office. On Sunday, the party made it clear that they would hold the demos today.

The Cord leaders: Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka said that despite the police threats, they would continue the protests until their cries are heard. The police boss, Japheth Koome even went ahead to tell the party that the police would not allow the demonstrations but that threat clearly fell on deaf ears.

“We will not allow any demonstrations tomorrow (Monday) because there is a court order barring it and the case touching on it is coming up for hearing tomorrow,” he said.

Koome was not alone on his stand as Inspector General Joseph Boinett said that these demonstrations were illegal and since Cord and its followers did not heed the advice they were given, they would face the consequences for breaking the law.

“Our responsibility is to enforce the law as it is. If they disobey the law and go to the streets, we the national police will do what we are required to do,” said Boinett.

The fact that Cord leaders and Jubilee met at State House yet no agreement was set upon led the opposition to continue in its battle for what they term as justice and the right of all Kenyans.

So Mondays will now be days where Kenyans will have to close their business premises and avoid the city centres to avoid stray bullets, teargas as well as water that is sprinkled on them to disperse them.

Reports are that the Cord anti-IBC demonstrations have already begun in Migori County. Business premises have been shut down and Kisii has not been left out either as the Kisii-Sirare Highway has been closed until further notice.
