Cord has opted to change tact in advocating for the removal of IEBC commissioners from office.
On Tuesday, Raila Odinga wrote a letter to the Jubilee government expressing their intentions to hold talks in a move that is expected to get Isaak Hassan and his commissioners out of the electoral commission.
Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, Raila noted that the opposition does not want the country to drown into post-election violence as it was witnessed in the 2007 polls. He revealed that their weekly demonstrations shall continue as scheduled until the commissioners’ surrender and quit.
Moses Wetangula also echoed Raila's sentiments insisting that 'punda amechoka.’ Wetangula lamented that it was unfair for a referee to show bias even before the game starts. In reference to Hassan, Wetangula said that he has in the past shown signs of the inclination to Jubilee and so it was unrealistic for them to get into elections whose outcome is already predetermined.
During the Monday protests, the opposition expressed dissatisfaction that IEBC commissioners are working with Koreans in tampering with voting kits.
