Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has confirmed that Cord co-principals and other coalition leaders will attend the Mashujaa day celebrations slated for tomorrow at Kenyatta stadium in Machakos county.
Kalonzo on Tuesday said that Cord leaders will attend the celebrations in solidarity for freedom fighters that fought for the country’s independence.
The Wiper leader asked Kenyans to join Cord leaders in Machakos tomorrow.
“We will attend the celebrations in support of our freedom fighters that fought for the country’s independence,” said Kalonzo during a dinner party at a Nairobi hotel organized to honor him for being feted with the African Dignitary Man of the Year 2016 Award on Tuesday night.
There had been claims that Cord was planning parallel Mashujaa celebrations in Makeuni County tomorrow.
The coalition, however, refuted the claims terming them as mere speculations.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to lead tomorrow’s celebrations in Machakos.
Deputy President William Ruto and other top government officials are expected to attend the celebrations.
On Tuesday Interior PS Karanja Kibicho during a briefing with journalists in Machakos said everything is set for tomorrow’s fete.
The PS has urged Kenyans to attend the celebrations in large numbers.
