Speaking in Kajiado County on Sunday, Nkaissery termed the celebrations as an open challenge to the ruling government which is against the law.

"We have not given any more chances to the Cord coalition to challenge the government in power anymore. We will arrest the party leaders planning the event; Kalonzo Musyoka, Johnstone Muthama, Raila Odinga, and Moses Wetangula if they go on and break rules," he added.

However, the Cord members have been adamant and persisted on the Madaraka day celebrations in Uhuru park gardens on Nairobi.

Speaking on Sunday in Kangundo sub-county, Muthama stated there was no law opposing celebration event apart from the one presided by the president.

"I urge our party supporters to turn up in big numbers to the Madaraka day celebrations on June 1. The celebrations will be presided by Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula at Uhuru gardens," said Muthama.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to preside over the Madaraka day celebrations in Nakuru county.
