Cord MPs have reacted to Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko after he said he would only join the opposition is Kalonzo Musyoka is picked as its flagbearer.
The leaders included MPs John Mbadi (Suba), Peter Kaluma(Homa Bay), Dan Maanzo(Makueni), Junet Mohamed (Suna East) and Jessica Mbalu (Kibwezi East). They accused Sonko of trying to engineer a division in Cord.
During their Sunday address, Mbadi strongly rubbished the Nairobi Senators statement saying that SOnko must first join Cord then make such utterances as a member.
"A member of Jubilee cannot dictate how we pick our presidential candidate. We have our ways of picking a flag-bearer," Mbadi was quoted by the Standard.
They, however, welcomed Sonko to join them should he desire to quit Jubilee but while at it, he should not come in issuing conditions.
Sonko had made those comments on Saturday during a public rally in Ukambani. Cord-co principal Moses Wetangula was present.
On Saturday, Sonko attended a public meeting in Ukambani that was also graced by CORD co-principal Moses Wetangula where he made the remarks.
