According to the residents,  Bosire did not utter remarks that can warrant him to be put in custody until Friday.

Led by Nyamira County Assembly chief whip James Maroro, they said they want the legislator released either through bond or cash bail, claiming they have not been treated well in the cells.

“According to what we have seen in the video clips regarding what Bosire is being accused of does not qualify for his arrest. He just asked for the arrest of Kuria (Moses) but unfortunately he was arrested,” he said.

Kuria, the Gatundu South MP, has also been charged with hate speech and is still in custody.

At the same time,  section of ODM supporters from Kisii County led by Evans Otegi and ODM youth leader Erick Changanya have challenged the State to release Bosire who is the ODM national treasurer.

“We are here to condemn the arrest of our leaders. We fear that they have not been handled well from the day they were arrested,” said Changanya.

They also added that Bosire was only making remarks regarding Kuria's arrest after allegedly calling for Cord leader Raila Odinga's assassination.
