ODM has hinted on new developments in a move that shall be seen as a way of regaining the lost glory of the coalition party.
A senior politician in the opposition has expressed concerted efforts by the ODM party to strike deals with KANU in a new deal ahead of 2017 general elections.
The new developments were made by John Mbadi, the chairman of the ODM party while speaking on Friday at a local vernacular radio station. He was also quoted saying that Kenyan politics has a habit of forming last minute negotiations and so their new deal is valid and not time bound.
The sentiments were echoed by KANU's secretary general, Nick Salat who said the idea of the party entering a pre-election deal with the CORD opposition could never be ruled out. He was quick to note that the party was in the move of shopping around for new partners but maintained that the party was still affiliated to the Jubilee coalition.
It should be noted that in the previous Kericho senatorial by-elections, KANU and the ruling Jubilee were involved in a supremacy battle as to who could win the hotly contested seat.
Jubilee won with KANU citing that it won by a huge margin. IEBC announced Jubilee's contestant the winner citing the process was free and fair. CORD, on the other hand, is facing an imminent break up by its affiliate parties FORD Kenya and the Wiper party led by Kalonzo Musyoka.
