With the latest stunt by Cord, the opposition coalition has announced they will be holding parallel Madaraka Day celebrations in what they say is exercising democracy.

In a press briefing, Machakos senator, Johnson Muthama, however, said the coalition has now been amplified in its relentless effort to disband the IEBC in preparation for the 2017 general elections.

The leaders vowed to eject the commissioners from office in a build up to what the leaders say will be the mother of all protests on Monday.

In a hit out to the Jubilee government, Muthama said some of the leaders from the ruling party was mobilising goons to spark violence in their planned protests in order to push the next general elections to a later date.

The leaders further asked the interior ministry to ensure protection is provided to all protestors come Monday to avoid the nasty Scenario witnessed last time.

Last Monday police used brutal force to disperse Cord protesters in Nairobi and Kisumu. Several people were injured and property of unknown value destroyed in the fracas. At least 15 people were arrested and later arraigned in court where they were charged with participating in an unlawful gathering while armed with stones and creating disturbance in a manner likely to disturb the peace.
