Speaking on Saturday in Mombasa during the issuance of bursary funds to students by the county government at the ASK Showground, ODM director of elections who is also the Suna East MP Junet Mohamed said the commissioners must leave office because they no longer have public trust to carry out the next general election.

“We will not allow the same people to hold the next general elections because Kenyans no longer trust them,” said Mohamed.

Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir who was also present at the event echoed Mohamed's statement arguing the disbandment of IEBC is not negotiable, over alleged failure in their mandate of holding a free and fair election.
