A section of Cord supporters in Kibera have urged coalition leader Raila Odinga to step down and let another person take over as the presidential candidate in the 2017 elections.
Mike Okidi said that it will be hard for Raila to be voted for since his competitors (Jubilee) presidential candidate is quite younger than him.
“It is a bit hard for people to have voted a youthful leader then shift the vote to another older person. People want a change that can last. They cannot vote a president who is above 60 years of age. You should also realise that the age factor plays a very big role in campaigning. A majority of Kenyans are youths who want a youthful leader,” said Okidi.
“When Raila supported Kibaki through his “Kibaki Tosha” slogan, he managed to manipulate people to vote for Mwai Kibaki. However, when he decided to challenge Mwai Kibaki, he failed. This means that Raila can now chose to support one of his two allies through the slogans ‘Wetangula Tosha’ or ‘Kalonzo Tosha’. He should now sacrifice his presidential dream to save Cord. By doing this, the Cord collision will defeat the Jubilee party,” said Daniel Owuor.
