Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has said that the opposition will might not partake in this year's elections due to the inclusion of the manual voter identification back up system in the election laws.
Speaking in Kajiado on Sunday, Kalonzo said that in case President Uhuru Kenyatta signed the passed Bill into law, then the elections would be determined even before the actual voting process happens.
"We cannot allow the Election Bill be signed into law. If this happens, then we will not participate in this year's elections," said Kalonzo.
"Manual voting systems will be liable to manipulation and results will be decided even before August. Biometric elections is the way to go. I therefore urge the president not to assent to the Bill," added Kalonzo.
The Elections Law Bill was passed by both the National Assembly and the Senate where Jubilee members maintained that the Biometric voting system should have a manual backup.
